Every piece of Bryn Hall furniture is made here, and has been for thirty years. Not designed here and made elsewhere: made here, start to finish, including the polishing.

There is no showroom in the retail sense. There is a working building with furniture at every stage: boards on the rack, carcasses on the bench, pieces in the finishing shop and finished work waiting to be delivered.

What happens in the building

Timber. Boards are selected for the job: figure matched across a table top, grain run through a set of drawer fronts, character oak picked for its knots or clean oak picked for the absence of them.

Drawing. Catalogue drawings are amended for your dimensions; one-off pieces are drawn from scratch and approved before anything is cut.

Making. Boards are planed, joints cut, mouldings run, drawers fitted and pieces assembled and checked. Machining brings accuracy; the benches take the work the rest of the way.

Finishing. Colour is built in stages, with drying and assessment between coats. Pieces may be polished, painted, limed, sand-blasted, rubbed through, left natural or matched to a sample.

Bring the right information

Bring photographs, dimensions and, if you have it, a plan of the room. Bring paint references or fabric if a colour has to work with something. If you want a piece matched, photographs of the front, side, top and important details are particularly useful.

If you cannot visit

Most clients commission without visiting. Request timber and finish samples, send photographs and rough dimensions, and we can approve drawings remotely before making begins.
