What we collect
This is an enquiry-led website. There is no shopping basket and we do not take payments online.
We collect what you type into our forms.
Sample request form: your name, email address, telephone number and postal address, the timbers and finishes you would like, the piece you have in mind, and whether you are matching an existing piece.
Catalogue request form: your name, email address and telephone number. The catalogue is a PDF, so we do not ask for a postal address.
Enquiry and contact form: your name, email address, telephone number, the piece or range you are interested in, timber, finish, approximate dimensions, timescale, how you found us, and anything else you choose to tell us. You may also attach photographs, sketches or measurements.
Correspondence: if you email or telephone us, we keep a record of the correspondence so that we can deal with your enquiry properly.
Website technical data: our website host records limited technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, as part of the normal operation and security of the site.
We do not ask for, and would rather you did not send us, information about health, beliefs, or anything else falling into the special categories defined in the UK GDPR.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
To answer your enquiry, send samples, send the catalogue, prepare a quotation and fulfil an order. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us. Without this information we cannot answer you or post anything to you.
To keep records of quotations, specifications and orders, and to support pieces we have made. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, and where applicable our legal obligations. Because we keep drawings and specifications, we can make a matching piece or a replacement component years later.
To send marketing emails or post, where you have asked to receive them. Lawful basis: consent, or the soft opt-in for our own similar products where you have already enquired or ordered. You can withdraw consent or unsubscribe at any time, in every message and by emailing us.
To keep the website secure and working. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
To comply with accounting, tax and other legal obligations. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest in running the business is outweighed by your interests and rights, and we have concluded that responding to an enquiry you have sent us is what you would reasonably expect.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
The only parties who handle it are the suppliers who run our systems on our behalf:
- our website hosting provider
- our email provider
- our accounting software provider, where an enquiry becomes a quotation or an order
Each acts as a data processor under written terms and may only use the information to provide the service to us. Our professional advisers, such as our accountants, and law enforcement or regulators, may see information where we are legally required or permitted to disclose it.
Where a provider stores or processes information outside the United Kingdom, we rely on the transfer safeguards permitted by UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement. If you would like to know which providers are involved and where they are based, email us and we will tell you.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only while there is a reason to, and no longer.
- Sample and catalogue requests that do not lead to an enquiry: two years from the date of the request.
- Enquiries and quotations that do not lead to an order: kept while the enquiry is live, and for two years after our last contact with you. People often come back to a quotation a season or two later, and we would rather still have the specification than ask you to describe it again.
- Order records, specifications and drawings: kept for the life of the guarantee. Because the structure of a piece is guaranteed for as long as you own it, we keep the drawing and the specification indefinitely, so that we can support, repair or match the piece years later. If you would prefer us not to, tell us and we will discuss what we can remove without losing the ability to support the piece.
- Accounting records: six years after the end of the financial year to which they relate, as required by law.
- Marketing consents: until you withdraw them, and a record of the withdrawal thereafter, so that we do not contact you again by mistake.
- Website technical logs: kept by our host for a short period as part of the normal operation and security of the site.
We review what we hold periodically and delete what we no longer need.
Security
Access to personal information is limited to those in the business who need it to do their job. Our systems are protected by access controls and passwords, and our providers are chosen on the basis that they maintain appropriate technical and organisational measures. The site is served over an encrypted connection, and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. We do not take payments through this website, so no card details are held here.
Cookies
Cookies are small files placed on your device by a website.
- Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working and secure. They do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies tell us how the site is used so we can improve it. These are only set with your consent.
- Advertising and remarketing cookies are not used. We do not advertise to you across other websites, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not share information with advertising networks.
Where consent is required, you will be asked on your first visit and can change your choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may then not work as intended.

Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- be informed about how we use your information, which is the purpose of this notice
- access the personal information we hold about you
- rectification of anything inaccurate or incomplete
- erasure of your information in certain circumstances
- restrict processing in certain circumstances
- data portability, where processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means
- object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so that we can put it right.
