Every piece of bespoke English furniture here is made to order in our own workshop in Suffolk. Nothing is held in stock, and nothing is bought in and badged.
That means a price is the starting point for a real piece rather than a fixed catalogue line. A table can be made longer or narrower, a dresser can be made to fit the wall it will stand against, and any piece can be made in solid oak, cherry, mahogany or walnut. If the size you need is not listed, ask for it. It costs no more to make a table 2,180mm long than 2,100mm, and that is often the difference between a piece that fits the room and one that merely sits in it.
The four timbers
Every range is offered in four solid timbers. Oak is the workhorse and the most forgiving of daily life. Cherry starts pale and darkens handsomely over the years. Mahogany suits formal rooms and holds a fine moulding better than anything else we use. Walnut is the richest of the four and the least often seen. We will post you samples of all four so you can look at them in your own light, against your own walls, before you commit to anything.
How the prices work
Each range shows a span because both size and timber move the figure. Choose a model and a size and the exact price appears, including VAT. Larger pieces and the rarer timbers sit at the top of the range; the smaller models in oak sit at the bottom.
How a commission runs
Every piece is drawn before it is made, and the drawings come to you for approval. A deposit of 40% starts the work and the balance is invoiced before delivery. Making normally takes twelve weeks from approved drawings, and up to sixteen when the workshop is busy; we confirm your date when you order.
If you cannot see what you want
The ranges here are starting points rather than a closed list. A good part of our work is matching or reproducing a piece a client already owns — timber chosen for grain and colour, mouldings copied properly, and the polish matched by eye. If you have something you want partnered, send us photographs and measurements and we will tell you honestly whether we can do it well.
Visitors are welcome at the workshop by appointment.
