At Bryn Hall, we make furniture intended to stand on its own: a table that can be moved, a dresser that earns its place in a room, a cabinet whose back matters as much as its front. Our sister brand, Reeve & Co Interiors, works at the other end of the room: the joinery that belongs to the architecture.

Fitted work, properly understood

Wardrobes, libraries, staircases, panelled rooms, studies, boot rooms and alcove cabinetry need to be drawn around an existing building. Nothing is square for long. Walls move, floors fall, other trades arrive late, and an installation has to meet all of it without looking as though it has had to. That is a different discipline from freestanding furniture, and it needs its own people, drawings and installation team.

Reeve & Co Interiors is the original Mickfield business from which Bryn Hall grew. It works with architects, interior designers, contractors and private clients on individual rooms and whole houses, in Suffolk, London and further afield. The workshop, drawing office, machine shop and finishing room are shared; the work is not treated as interchangeable.

When it makes sense to involve both of us

The useful moment is early: a room can be considered as one composition, rather than fitted joinery arriving from one supplier and furniture from another with timber, colour and proportion left to chance. A panelled library may include fitted shelving from Reeve & Co and a freestanding partners’ desk from Bryn Hall. A bedroom may combine fitted wardrobes with a painted chest or bedside tables. They are separate commissions, but they can be drawn, sampled and finished together.

Equally, a single Bryn Hall table needs no wider project around it. We will not turn a furniture enquiry into a building programme. But where the room is being made as well as furnished, one workshop gives the client a clearer route through it.
