A kitchen is usually the room where freestanding furniture and fitted work meet most closely. Square & True is the kitchen-making side of the same Mickfield workshop: hand-painted and in-frame kitchens, pantries, sculleries, utilities and boot rooms, made to order in Suffolk.
A kitchen is not just cabinetry
It has to work through a day. It has to accommodate appliances, services, light, circulation, a dining table and all the useful clutter of a real house. The best rooms hold their order without appearing over-designed. Square & True begins with the room and the people who use it, then makes the cabinetry, frames, doors and details in-house. The result is fitted work made with cabinetmaking standards rather than a catalogue assembled to measure.
The workshop makes the kitchens, hand-paints them in the same finishing shop that finishes Bryn Hall furniture, dry-assembles them before delivery and fits them with its own team. It is particularly suited to period houses, listed buildings and rooms where proportions need to be judged in person rather than left to a screen.
Furniture in the kitchen
A Bryn Hall refectory table, dresser, chair or sideboard can be considered at the same time as a Square & True kitchen. This is not about making every piece match. It is about avoiding the near-misses: oak that is too yellow beside a painted island, a table that fights the room’s mouldings, or a finish chosen without the light of the room in mind.
We can send timber and finish samples, and the same people can discuss the furniture and kitchen requirements before the drawings settle. The legal contracts and brand identities remain separate; the benefit is simply that the conversation starts in one place.
