A ladder back chair has horizontal rails running between two uprights, like the rungs of a ladder. It is the plainest way to make a comfortable chair back, and it has been the standard English country dining chair for three hundred years because it does three things at once: it supports the back where support is wanted, it lets light through, and it weighs almost nothing.
Made to order in oak, cherry, mahogany or walnut in our Suffolk workshop. Prices include VAT.
Chair prices are for the frame. Drop-in, wrap-around and fully upholstered seats are priced separately, per seat. Ten or more chairs on one order, less 10%.
Normally twelve weeks from approved drawings to delivery, and up to sixteen when the workshop is busy. Every piece is drawn before it is made, and nothing is cut until you have approved the drawing.
Timber and finish samples are £10 each, refunded against your order. The price includes our standard hand-applied polished finish.
