Pendleton is the farmhouse dining table. Simple, rustic in character, and the piece most families actually live around rather than look at.
It is the range we are asked for most often when the table has to work hard: breakfast, homework, and then eight people for dinner on Saturday. That is why the details of Pendleton are practical ones.
The details that define it
Quintessential farmhouse tapered legs. A square leg that narrows towards the floor. It is the classic farmhouse leg, it keeps the table looking light despite a heavy top, and it does not catch knees.
The optional Pendleton turned leg. A turned alternative for anyone who wants more shape at the base. It changes the character of the table considerably and is worth seeing before you decide.
A large top, for dining or for kitchen use. Pendleton tops are drawn generously. The range is meant to be the working centre of a kitchen as much as a dining room table.
Draw-leaves. Frequently specified, and for a good reason: the leaves live under the main top and pull out from the ends, so you can seat more guests without losing floor space the rest of the year. Nothing has to be stored in a cupboard.
Various drawer options. Drawers in the frieze, at the ends or along a side, sized to whatever actually needs to live in them.
Painted base with a pippy oak top. A signature Pendleton treatment. The base is painted, the top is left as timber, and the contrast between the two is the whole point. Pippy oak, with its clusters of small knots, is the usual choice for the top, though standard oak is used just as often.
What the range covers
Pendleton is a table range and nothing else. The name is not applied to servers, dresser bases or any other piece.

The painted base and timber top treatment can be carried onto other furniture so that a room reads as one, and we will draw it for you. The range itself stops at the table.

Timbers
Pendleton is priced in the four standard timbers: oak, cherry, mahogany and walnut.
Oak is the usual specification, and the top is where the timber decision really shows. Pippy oak is available for tops in light, medium and heavy grades. Character oak carries an additional ten per cent on tables. Oak selected for medullary ray, and clean timber with no knots at all, are priced on application.

Make it yours
Pendleton is made to your size as standard. The variables clients set most often:
- Length, width and height. Measured to your room, and to the chairs you already own.
- Top thickness and edge. A heavier top changes the whole feel of the table.
- Leg pattern. Tapered or the Pendleton turned leg.
- Leaves. Fixed top, one draw-leaf, or draw-leaves at both ends.
- Drawers. Number, position and internal size.
- Base finish. Painted in a colour of your choosing, polished, limed, sand-blasted or rub-through paint. Colour matching to a sample is available on application.
- Top finish. Often left lighter than the base, and sometimes left natural.

Questions about Pendleton
How many people will a Pendleton drawleaf table seat?
That depends entirely on the length you specify, since every table is made to your dimensions. Tell us how many you seat day to day and how many at Christmas, and we will work the two lengths back to a top size and leaf size.
Does a draw-leaf table stay level when it is extended?
Yes. The leaf pulls out from beneath the main top and rises to sit flush with it. There is no separate leaf to fetch and no gap in the middle.
Can I have a painted base in my own colour?
Yes. We will paint to a colour you specify, or match a sample you send us. Colour matching is priced on application because of the extra polishing time involved.
What is pippy oak?
Oak with clusters of small knots and burr figure running through it. It is used for tops rather than frames, and it comes in light, medium and heavy grades depending on how much of that figure you want.
