We are a Suffolk workshop. Everything Bryn Hall sells is drawn, cut, jointed, polished and loaded onto the van at Stonham Road, Mickfield, a few miles north of Stowmarket, and the people who make it are the people you speak to on the telephone.
That matters more than it sounds. Nothing we sell is bought in and badged, and if you live in the county you are welcome to come and watch it being made.
Where we are
Stonham Road, Mickfield, Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14 5LS. Just off the A140 between Ipswich and Diss, so it is a straightforward run from most of the county — roughly twenty minutes from Ipswich and half an hour from Bury St Edmunds.
Visits are by appointment, which is not us being precious. It is a working shop with machinery running, and we would rather know you are coming so somebody is free to walk you round rather than shouting over a spindle moulder. Directions and what to expect on a visit.
What we make
Freestanding furniture, made to order: dining tables, chairs, dressers, sideboards, beds, wardrobes, desks and bookcases and cabinets, in oak, cherry, mahogany or walnut.
Nothing is held in stock and nothing has a fixed size. There are ten named ranges, but they are starting points — the piece is made to your room rather than chosen from a shelf.
A word on what we are not, because Suffolk searches tend to mix them up. Bryn Hall makes furniture that stands on the floor and moves house with you. Fitted joinery, panelling, libraries and staircases are Reeve & Co Interiors; kitchens are Square & True; gun cabinets and sporting storage are Sporting Cabinetmakers. All three are the same workshop and the same people, so a freestanding dresser and a fitted boot room can be finished to match from one sample.
Matching what is already in a Suffolk house
A good deal of our work is not a new set of furniture at all. It is one piece made to go with what a house already has — a table to match inherited chairs, a second chest to make a pair, a dresser to finish a run that was started by somebody else decades ago. Timber is selected for grain and colour against the original, mouldings are copied properly rather than approximated, and the polish is matched by eye. How that works.
Delivery in Suffolk and beyond
Two people, into the room of your choice, assembled on site, packaging taken away. Where access is tight we survey first, and a Suffolk cottage staircase is a known quantity to us.
We deliver throughout the UK, but if you are local it is the easy part of the job. Delivery and placement.
Come and see it
If you are in the county, the honest advice is to stop reading and come to Mickfield. Timber and finish samples are £10 each and refunded against an order, and they are genuinely useful, but nothing tells you what a piece is like as quickly as standing next to one that is half finished on the bench.

Can I visit without ordering anything?
Yes. Ring first so somebody is free to show you round. It is a working shop rather than a showroom, so what is on the bench that week is what you will see.
Do you only work in Suffolk?
No — we deliver throughout the UK. But we are a Suffolk workshop and being able to come and see the work being made is one of the better reasons to use a local maker.
Do you make fitted furniture and kitchens?
Not under Bryn Hall. Bryn Hall is freestanding furniture. Fitted joinery is Reeve and Co Interiors and kitchens are Square and True — the same building and the same people, so finishes can be matched across all of it.
Can you match a piece I already own?
Yes, and it is a large part of the work. Send photographs taken in daylight and, if you can, a small physical component we can colour match against.
How long does a piece take?
Normally twelve weeks, and up to sixteen when the workshop is busy. A genuine one-off usually adds around four weeks. The date is confirmed when you order.
